Mysql process consumes all CPU

Hi All,

Please help me to solve this problem:

I have a hotstandby Alpha server DS10, with Redhat Linux 7.2 and mysql, sometimes it becomes veryyyyyyyyyy slow, the CPU idle becomes Zero, I upgrade the RAM from 1M to 2M, but with no benefit, so what can I ?

Usually Mysql process takes most of CPU.:confused:

I entered ps -aux| grep -c mysql and it was 25.

I've installed 22" flat screen Optiquest Q2201wb monitor to replace my several-year-old 17" CRT ViewSonic E771 monitor. Everything seems stretched out sideways: the icons on my desktop are now rectangular instead of square; all the letters in my posts seem wider; the people on the screen seem shorter and fatter; etc.

My neighbor thinks I need to replace the video card(?) in my computer tower. Is this true? Need I do any other things to accommodate the change in monitors. If 'Yes', can you tell me what to do and if they're things I can do rather than taking the tower to the shop where I got it?

Spicefuse shoutbox help?

My shoutbox is growing far quicker than i would have expected.
33,000 shouts and growing.
What i need to be able to do is to prune lets say something like all but the last 200 shouts.
I posted in the shoutbox thread some time ago but it appears its not being actively read lately.

Hi,

I've got a question about an issue to the thread safe execution.
The whole setup was made in order to have a business logic triggered by
struts, that still can retrieve information from its environment -- here Struts -- without
having explicit knowledge of it. In short, the processing is like this:

a) the ActionObject gets the business object
b) calls the business method on the business object including
-the HttpServletRequest just received in the perform call, and
-a reference to itself
c) the business object now uses this reference to retrieve from this object
some information about the business objects environment. Thus, the business object
calls the ActionObject (without knowing, that it is a struts Action) and hands in
the HttpServletRequest (as an java.lang.Object).
d) the ActionObject uses the HttpServletRequest to get the desired information
(like request.getParameter()) and returns the result back to the business object.

Basically, I want to know, if I can use a static method (no static fields) within the ActionObject
for performing the environment lookup thread safe.

Sounds a little complicated, doesn't it? Well, to those who have the time to get involved.
It's actually not that difficult.

The class structure in my struts app is like the following:

-Class MyActionClass: extends ...struts.Action implements myClasses.Environment

-Interface myClasses.Environment has (let's say) just one method:
public boolean isPropertySet(Object helperObject)

-Class DoSomeStuffRq is a class that contains
a)translated form data, and
b) an java.lang.Object reference to store the HttpServletRequest
(which the MyActionObject just has recieved in its perform method).

-Class MyBusinessClass: doSomeBusinessStuff(DoSomeStuffRq stuffInfo, Environment env)

The Environment interface is there in order to decouple Struts from the business logic - giving
the chance to reuse the MyBusinessClass when not using Struts anymore (well, I hope I don't
have to, but still).

So finer grained, the actions are:

1) Let the MyActionClass get the businessObject (of type MyBusinessClass),
2) MyActionClass calls the method businessObject.doSomeBusinessStuff(stuffInfo, this);
["this" is of type Environment]

3) in order to process the business actions, the BusinessObject has to
retrieve a boolean value from it's (unknown) environment. So it calls
the isPropertySet from the Environment interface (which has the MyActionClass implementation):

public StuffResponse doSomeBusinessStuff(DoSomeStuffRq stuffInfo, Environment env)
{
boolean importantProperty = environment.isPropertySet(stuffInfo.getObjectReference());
...
}

where stuffInfo.getObjectReference() gives the above mentioned HttpServletRequest reference
as a java.lang.Object.

4) the rest is quite obvious: myActionObject does a cast of the java.lang.Object to the HttpServletRequest

and gets a request parameter. Then, it returns a boolean value depending on that request parameter.

Well, there's lots to argue about in the whole scenario.
Questions like: does it make sense to do all that stuff to decouple business logic and Struts;
is there
a better way of passing the parameters between the objects, shall the MyActionClass handle
the lookup,
when all I need is a HttpServletRequest and so on.
But the simple question I'm interested in is: Can I have the MyActionClass' method
public boolean isPropertySet(Object helperObject)
being static?

I think, I can, because:
As long as I don't use any class members in the MyActionClass, the thread safety shall be

given -- no matter if the method is static or not. Is that true?
Well it's more a java related question, but I think there are some people here, who are interested
in this issue too.

Mybb Seo in active development?

I've noticed there hasn't been any new news or updates since August of last year, according to the last updated time on the Mybb plugins page..

I've just been wondering whether or not this plugin is still undergoing active development or if a new version can be expected to be announced soon.

I'm hoping to not hear the worst, that the plugin has ceased development. I've also observed the inactivity on the forum from both the author and members so I am a bit worried as to what is going on.

The same code is output as is when viewing the index page and the thread index. When the user goes to the a thread page, this is what is given out:

That is, the links to "/public-school-teachers-salary/#sign" and "/public-school-teachers-salary/signatures.php" gets deleted - the entire link, not just the href. I have not seen how the plugin does this in code, but I have confirmed that it is the plugin which is doing this, since the problem disappears when I disable the plugin.

SpiceFuse Shoutbox Tweek (SEO Links)

I installed the SpiceFuse SEO mod along with the SpiceFuse Shoutbox, and since the shoutbox uses the old style links, i desided to update it so it also used the SEO links.

Here is what i did

Open %forumroot%/inc/plugins/spicefuse_shoutbox.php (be sure to make a BACKUP before doing this)

Find this code:

Replace with:

Then do it again (there is 2 places for each)

This removes the $extra var which I'm not sure what exactly it does, but my forum wasn't using it. Also it leaves uppercase letters in usernames. I don't see any issues with this, but if there are, you could replace #1's code like this:

$username = strtolower ($row['username']);

Also this edits the links in the "View Full Shoutbox" link.

[HELP] MyBB SEO displaying white pages to some people!

Hi, I've been using MyBB SEO 2 days ago, and some guests/users see a white page with MyBB SEO plugin installed. I tryed to deactivate it, and now people that saw a white page, can now browse my forums perfectly.
